The restructure is inevitable for higher education when the impact of economics internationalizing and the resources limiting. In the circumstances, establishing an analysis model for the merger of higher education benefits the development of higher education in Taiwan.
The axis of the study is the merger of firms, assembling and comparing the processes, types and successful factors of the merger for higher education in occident and P.R.C., also considering the trend of Taiwan and P.R.C. and establish the analysis model for the merger of higher education.
There are three analysis models for the merger of higher education in this study. They are "complex type", "expansive type" and "multiple type". We did the case studies for having merged and discussing merged schools in Taiwan. The important conclusion is that the schools prefer the multiple merger type for resources limiting and academia pursuing in Taiwan. And they don''t preclude the second merger to complex type of merger model. The conclusions of the study offer administrative suggestions for the government, nonprofit organization, enterprises and higher education in Taiwan.
