Due to one of the characters of the SMEs (small and medium enterprises), which is of being able to adapt to the business environment changes, without setting for an electronic commerce (EC) business model, they will lose their competition in this cruel business world. Hence, the SMEs have to perform business process reengineering (BPR) to promote their competitive advantage. This research is focused on exploring Taiwan’s SMEs BPR cognition and their current settings in accordance with the BPR logic. Total 750 self-administrated questionnaires were sent out and 138 valid ones were received. The findings show that the SMEs are still lack of the concept of adopting information technology on their business processes even for those SMEs with high computerization settings. This study also shows that the SMEs are with less fluent workflow and most of them are pyramidal organizations.
