Computerized information system has been in use widely among enterprises. As each enterprise becomes more computerized, the application of these concepts such as customer-orientation, satisfaction to customer, product life-cycle support, and information technology (IT) are also regarded as important. Nowadays, the way of working by oneself can’t afford to make an enterprise exist. Enterprises must be reengineered because of the emerging of information technology. In brief, if an enterprise can’t put IT into practice in operation, it might be eliminated inevitably. E-commerce among enterprises is more than just product transactions. It is also inclusive of sharing and exchanging information. And CALS (Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support) means integrating, sharing, and exchanging information. Global commerce system and paperless society will be built if operation procedures are reformed, digitized, and standardized. Digitizing, and standardizing all necessary business information, database systems, and network communication systems make sharing and exchanging all information possible, which enables headquarters of enterprises communicate and share information with branch factories.CALS can computerize and simplify operation procedures, which can promote the efficiency of operating. Therefore, CALS is the strategy for achieving the goal of doing e-commerce and building virtual enterprises. At present, the internal documents about CALS mostly focus on discussing information technology, measures, and point of popularizing CALS strategy, and initiative system of applying CALS. Furthermore, the point of view taken is rather based on strategy or operation than carrying out CALS in a specific industry. Steel industry, which is a resource-intensive industry, is regarded as the basis of industries. However, such a huge and complicated industry lacks for integration. Compared with other industries, steel industry will be less competitive and become an unremarkable sunset industry in an efficiency-stressed era. As a result, the key to integrate the steel industry and promote its competitivity is to carry out CALS. According to the research, CALS is characteristic of standard and information sharing database. However, when practicing CALS in enterprises, there are still some problems to be solved, inclusive of required ability, qualification, and influences that CALS will make. The research is carried out by interviews and questionnaires with experts and 96 CSC satellite system status. The research said that the CSC satellite system status lack for knowledge of CALS and integration of standard data exchange format. Besides, these factories are in quite different levels of digitizing. So the problems of insufficient information professionals and funds will come around with popularizing CALS.
