Description
Summary:碩士 === 中華大學 === 土木工程學系碩士班 === 89 === To improve the beneficial uses of scrap tires as well as the performance of asphalt pavements, this particular study performed a series of laboratory works to investigate the possibility of using crumb rubber on the open-graded friction course (OGFC) of Taiwan’s expressways. According to the test results, additional stage of crushing is needed to produce aggregates in compliance with the particle shape and angularity requirements. With a nominal size of 0.85mm, the CRM content has to be increased to about 30% of the weight of asphalt to meet with the apparent viscosity requirements stated at the ASTM D6114. With this particular asphalt rubber (AR) blend, the binder content is selected at 9.0% for the Arizona OGFC gradation and the air void is about 19% on the compacted Marshall specimens. These AR-OGFC specimens were tested for raveling potential, permeability, and water damage by using Cantabro abrasion test, permeability test, and water-immerged Cantabro abrasion test, respectively. All test results have shown promising. Not only the functionality but also the durability of OGFC could be improved by using asphalt rubber on the expressways.
