Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 護理學研究所 === 89 === The purposes of this study were to explore the impact of individual health education on knowledge, side effects and self-care action for Gynecological cancer patients who received her first chemotherapy. The time-series one-group quasi-experimental research design was adopted as guide for this study. A total of 23 patients who met inclusion criteria were selected from a medical center from Taichung. Major instruments included patient demographic data, chemotherapy knowledge questionnaire, Exercise of Self-care Agency scale, self-care manual, and weekly notes of chemotherapy for gynecological cancer patients. Due to the distributions of these data, descriptive statistics, parametric statistics and non-parametric analysis were performed. The results indicated: (1). The highest occurrence of side effects was: tiredness, hair loss, and nausea/vomiting. The most severe side effect was hair loss. (2). Among 105 suggested self-care activities, 48.43 activities were performed in average during study period. And their effectiveness was ranked as 1.20 in general. (3). The knowledge level in the third-therapy was higher than the second-therapy. Meanwhile, it was higher in the second-therapy than pre-educated period. (4). The occurrence of side effects was positive correlated to the overall self-care activities. These findings provide guidance to help the health care team to promote quality of care by educating and guiding the self-care activities for these Gynecological cancer patients who received their first chemotherapy.
