碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 應用數學研究所 === 89 === The thesis concerns the construction of optimal grids for solutions of convection dominated problems based on finite element approximations. We attempt to use two techniques to reach the goal. One is grid-smoothing based on ''rule of thumb'' while the other is a new grading functions based on minimization of the interpolation estimates of the finite element spaces together with the minimization approach proposed by Yamaleev. Numerical results show that the stability of the process for our grading function is better than Carey-Dinh's grdaing function.
