Moreover, it can provide several new add-on services as well. In this thesis, we study the cellular-based position location (PL) systems, which are overlaid on existing cellular systems and no additional equipment is required. Two major technical challenges in cellular-based PL systems are heariability, and Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) problems. In this thesis, we focus on the NLOS mitigation issue. Two NLOS mitigation algorithms are proposed to combat such NLOS errors. One utilizes the spatial information, angle of arrival (AOA), to reduce the NLOS effect. The other one is a hybrid temporal/spatial mitigation algorithm. The performance of proposed algorithms is evaluated by computer simulations. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes are effective in decreasing NLOS errors. Furthermore, a target tracking algorithm is proposed to trace an interesting MS running in cellular networks. Our simulation results indicate that the tracking algorithm can closely track the route of a moving MS, and is insensitive to the effect of NLOS error. Jyh-Horng Wen 溫志宏 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 0 en_US
