It will be compared through the viewpoints of CEOs from different industries. The result of the research is summarized as follows: I. How CEOs Assess Human Resource Managers’ Competencies A. All Industries Viewing through the whole industry, when CEOs assess human resource managers’ competencies, Functional and Organizational Leadership is respected most among the elements in the first hierarchy. In the second hierarchy, Communication is the most respected element among those of Influence Management. Strategic Focus is respected element of Business Knowledge. HR Planning, Selection, and placement is respected most among the seven elements of Human Resource Technical. The most respected element in Functional and Organizational Leadership is Leading Through Vision. Efficiency Orientation is most respected element in Goal and Action Management. B. Different Industries 1. First Hierarchy As far as the first hierarchy is concerned, what CEOs of high technology industries respect most is Human Resource Technical. CEOs of manufacturing industries emphasize on Functional and Organizational Leadership most. CEOs of financial industries respect Functional and Organizational Leadership the most. CEOs of Service industries respect Goal and Action Management the most. 2. Second Hierarchy (1) Influence Management Among all the elements in Influence Management, CEOs of high technology industries respect Communication the most. CEOs of manufacturing industries respect Negotiation Skills the most. CEOs of financial industries respect Perceptual Objectivity the most. CEOs of Service industries respect Negotiation Skills the most. (2) Business Knowledge Among all the elements in Business Knowledge, CEOs of high technology industries respect General Management Skills the most. CEOs of manufacturing industries respect Strategic Focus the most. CEOs of financial industries respect Organizational Awareness most. CEOs of Service industries respect General Management skills most. (3) Human Resource Technical Among all the elements in Human Resource Technical, CEOs of high technology industries respect HR Planning, Selection, and Placement most. CEOs of manufacturing industries respect Organizational Development most. CEOs of financial industries respect HR Planning, Selection, and Placement most. CEOs of Service industries respect employee and labor relations most. (4) Functional and Organizational Leadership Among the elements in Functional and Organizational Leadership, CEOs of high technology industries respect Developing Others most. CEOs of manufacturing industries respect Group Management Skills most. CEOs of financial industries respect Integrity most. CEOs of Service industries respect Group Management Skills most. (5) Goal and Action Management Among the elements in Goal and Action Management, CEOs of high technology, financial and service industries all respect Proactivity most. CEOs of manufacturing industries respect Efficiency Orientation most. II. How CEOs Are Satisfied With The Incumbent Human Resource Manager At The Being Moment A. Human Resource Managers’ Competencies Evaluations 1. All Industries Generally speaking, human resource managers got totally scores at 3.628 in the first hierarchy. Comparing with the full marks at 5, it shows that CEOs tend to be satisfied with the incumbent human resource managers’ competencies. 2. Different Industries CEOs of service industries got the highest satisfactory with the incumbent human resource managers’ competencies. Others following in order are manufacturing industries high technology industries and financial industries. B. Each Element Evaluation 1. Influence Management Compared with other industries, CEOs’ of manufacturing industries got the highest satisfactory with the incumbent human resource managers’ competence of influence management. Others following in order are service industries and financial industries. 2. Business Knowledge The scores of which CEOs’ among all the industries evaluate the incumbent human resource managers’ competence of business management from high to low are service industries, manufacturing industries, high technology industries and financial industries. 3. Human Resource Technical Compared with other industries, CEOs of service industries gave the highest evaluation to the incumbent human resource managers’ competence of human resource technical. Others following in order are manufacturing industries, high technology industries and financial industries. 4. Functional and Organizational Leadership Compared with other industries, CEOs of service industries gave the highest evaluation to the incumbent human resource managers’ competence of functional and organization leadership. Others following in order are manufacturing industries, financial industries and high technology industries. 5. Goal and Action Management The scores of which CEOs’ among all the industries evaluate the incumbent human resource managers’ competence of goal and action management following in order are manufacturing industries, service industries, high technology industries and financial industries.
