Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 機械工程研究所 === 88 === The purpose of this study is to develop the proper thermal plasma process to treat the ashes from coal power plants into harmless slag, and to establish the relative plasma vitrification technology to recycle the vitrified slag as construction materials. The plasma vitrification tests have been performed in the collaboration with Institute of Nuclear Energy Research (INER). INER has developed the Taiwan first plasma vitrification system for feasibility study of treating the hazardous wastes and low-level radioactive wastes. The wastes treated in this study include fly ashes and bottom ashes from different power plants. After vitrification treatment by thermal plasma, high quality slags are obtained with satisfactory results of volume and weight reductions. The typical compressive strength of the vitrified slag is between 900 and 4200 kg/cm2. Therefore, the plasma vitrification technology used in this study is demostrated feasible to treat ashes from power plants into stable slags which have great potential to be used as construction materials.
