This study integrates the aspect of storage planning and picking operation, and considers the combination of three different storage strategies with two different picking operations to minimize the cost of a miniload automatic storage/retrieval system. The three-factor experimental design were employed with three major factors of cost in a warehouse system (i.e., storage strategy, picking operation, and storage size), also analyze the optimal combination of warehouse system. The results of experiment show that storage strategy, picking operation, and storage size have significantly influence on the cost of a miniload AS/RS. Base on the experimental data, the randomized storage and batch picking model performs best on the total warehouse cost.
