Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 資訊工程研究所 === 88 === Satellite ATM networks have significant advantages over terrestrial ATM network. Satellites provide unique advantages such as bandwidth on demand, remote wide coverage, rapid deployment, distance insensitivity, immunity to terrestrial disasters, and offering broadband links. Satellite ATM networks will play an important role in the rapidly evolving information infrastructure. However, there are several obstacles needed to be solved. The suitable medium access control designed to allow statistical multiplexing of ATM traffic is the most important method to efficiently use the limited bandwidth. We analyze the Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocols of Satellite ATM, which use Adaptive Random-Reservation scheme to request the transmission slot and transfer the different classes of data by taking the advantage of On-Board Radio Resource Management to provide their qualities of service. In addition, our MAC protocols design is based on Multiple-Frequency Time Division Multiple Access (MF-TDMA), which can save the uplink transmission power and occupy almost full time slot to achieve the high throughput. In this paper, OPNET Modeler/Radio is used to simulate the specific contention and reservation algorithm of MAC protocols.
