Operational temperature trajectories were calculated to meet the thermally safe operation criterion in case of known or unknown reaction kinetics. The proposed method was examined in a 10-L conventional batch reactor in which a highly exothermic hydrolysis reaction of the acetic anhydride occurred with or without sulfuric acid as catalyst. Experimental demonstrations were successful, and the suggested approach can be applied in the industrial conditions especially the hybrid model approach.
