This study also seeked to understand the difference of teachers’ awareness about the characteristic of learning school from different background and the influence of principals’ leading behavior to learning school. The study adopted the questionnaire survey and literature analysis. Two survey instruments were developed according to Senge’s theory of learning organization, including Learning School Scale and Leadership of Principal Scale. The survey samples included a total number of 1,055 teachers randomly selected from 106 elementary schools in Taiwan . The collected data were analyzed by the statistic methods of frequencies, percentage, mean, standard, one-way ANOVA and scheffe method. The conclusions were as follows: 1.The elementary schools had miniature form of learning school. 2.The elementary schools had obvious characteristic of system thinking . 3.The elementary schools were necessary to improve the characteristic of improving mental models. 4.The male teachers awared of the characteristic of learning school more obviously. 5.The teachers graduated from junior techers college awared of the characteristic of learning school more obviously. 6.The senior teachers awared of the characteristic of learning school more obviously. 7.Small school had more advantages in building learning school. 8.The country school were easier to form the learning school. 9.Most principals adopted both of high initiation structure and high consideration to lead their schools. 10.The leading behavior of lower initiation structure and lower consideration of principals was worse to form the characteristic of system thinking and team learning. 11.The leading behavior of high consideration of principals had advantage to form the characteristic of personal mastery, improving mental models and building shared vision.
