However, many enterprises failed in their endeavour to achieve ERP implementation. The gap between the expectation of the enterprise and the effect of implementation is evident. Researchers on topic concerning ERP used to put emphasis on the business functions integration and the resource sharing among enterprises, which helped speed the distribution of information and had cut costs in both the time and the space. However, the reported incident and the studies do not coincide at all. In view of the gap between the reality and the theory, reinvestigating the existing approach to the ERP implementation is thus needed. This research, therefore, proposes an approach to eliminate the gap between the theory — the benefits from implementing ERP — and the reality — the effects of failing implementing ERP. This research firstly adopts profitability and value activity analysis, and considers critical issues and vendor-practised approaches to shape the generic ERP implementing strategy. Next, the generic ERP model and its implementing process is presented and the generic ERP implementing model is thus formed. Thirdly, the generic BPR methodology is demonstrated to support the proposed model, and grey relational analysis is introduced to help a firm select the processes to be reengineered. Finally, this research closes with the ARIS planning device is shown to depict the ERP implementing reference model and methodology. Chen, Ming-Kuen 陳銘崑 2000 學位論文 ; thesis 176 en_US
