There are ten exhibit units in the LSH, including Gateway to the Living World, The Origin of Life, The Evolution of Plants, Life Takes to the Land, The Age of Dinosaurs, Flight, Extinction, The Evolution and Adaptability of Mammals, The Story of Man, Population and Food. The specific objectives were 1. to investigate the sociodemographic characters and visiting characteristics of junior high school student in the ten exhibit units at the LSH; 2. to study the relationships between student’s sociodemographic characters and the knowledge gained; 3. to understand the relationships between student’s sociodemographic characters and the preference of Exhibit Facilities (Exhibit Units, Exhibit Contents, Exhibit Types); 4. to identify the relationships between the preference of Exhibit Facilities and the Knowledge Gained. The Knowledge Gained, Satisfaction, and Willingness to Return served as indicators of Exhibit Units effectiveness. The Effectiveness of Learning and the preference of Exhibit Facilities were the tabulated items. The results showed that there were 757 junior high school students were surveyed. Most students were freshman and from Northern Taiwan. The gender ratio was about 1:1, Natural Science was the most interested subject. Information about LSH was predominantly from Classmates and Teachers. Survey participants were highly satisfied with the Exhibit Facilities and willing to return. The research also indicated some findings which were 1. Positive learning did take place in the LSH, because statistically significant differences exist between students'' pretest and posttest scores. The average score increased by 11 points from 56.2 points on the pretest to 67.2 points on the posttest; 2. There were statistically significant differences between students'' average pretest and posttest scores for each Exhibit Unit; 3. Gender and Subject Interested were associated with the difference between the average pretest and posttest scores; 4. Grade, Gender, Subject Interested, and the Number of Attending Natural Science Activities and Workshops had an association with the differences between the average pretest and posttest scores for each Exhibit Unit; 5. Grade, Gender and School Location were associated with the preference of Exhibit Units; 6. Gender, School Location and Subject Interested were related with the preference of Exhibit Contents; 7. The School Location and Subject Interested had an association with the preference of Exhibit Types; 8. The Exhibit Contents and Exhibit Types revealed a positive correlated with the difference between pretest and posttest scores. In addition, the study found Exhibit Contents had more influence than Exhibit Types on the Knowledge Gained. Win-Jing Chung Homer Chung-hung Wu 鍾溫凊 吳忠宏 2000 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW |
