Description
Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 藝術研究所 === 88 === Being a nature lover, I always enjoy the pleasure of walking through the deep woods and valleys. The beauty of the creeks and waterfalls in Taiwan have been a strong inspirational motive behind my engagement in ink-and-water paintings. Over the past years, I have found there is still much room for improvement in my works. By writing on creative ideals and taking an in-depth study in painting theories, I continue to pursue traditional quintessence and self-scrutiny, with the objective of getting a clear creative direction to make a breakthrough. The source of creation lies in thoughts. The prospering of landscape painting came after the popularity of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. With the metaphysics in the Six Dynasties as a actalyst, landscape painting gradually became a fad. According to a book by MiFei of the Sung Dynasty commenting on the authenticity of the well-knownpaintings, landscape painting was well established under Messrs, Wang Wei, Wu Taotzu, and Li Szuhsun in the Tang Dynasty. Creeks and waterfalls are indispensable for the structure of landscape painting, from wich we can draw inspiration. The scholars in the era before the Chin Dynasty developed metaphysics and presented the realm of aesthetics to express their appreciation of water. A lot of painting theories have been transmitted from ancient times. From the perspective of theory and practice. We can learn the ideas of painters. Moreover, the comparison and analysis of works help to understand variations of painting skills and can be of reference for personal creation. Modeling after the ancients, Mother nature and heart are the learning approach. Diligent studies rather than luck or shortcut can yield fruition. I have high expectations of myself by selecting Taiwan’s waterfalls as my main theme of research. I live on this land and naturally cherish a great affection for the surrounding landscape. It is my sincere hope to express the simplicity and vigor of Taiwan landscape through a series of works.
