Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 電機工程系 === 88 === This paper is used to study the load characteristics and power quality problems for the steel plants with arc furnaces, where both AC and DC furnaces are considered. The method of field measurement and statistics is used. The severity of voltage flicker caused by arc furnaces is dependent on the operating characteristics of arc furnaces, performance of mitigation equipment, and condition of transmission/distribution systems.
At first, field measurement is taken at two steel plants. The effect of arc furnaces on voltage flicker can be obtained. The measurement points contain MOFs of plants and arc furnaces. The measurement values include apparent power, active power, reactive power, voltage, current, voltage fluctuation, voltage flicker 10Hz equivalent values, total voltage harmonic distortion and voltage unbalanced factor.When all the measurement data are well got, the statistics methods are used to analyze the data, study the load characteristics, explore why the voltage flicker values in calculation and measurement are different, compare several tariff methods for reactive power, and study the harmonic and nubalance peoblems. In addition, by measurement we compare several methods to reduce voltage flicker. We also compare the effect of AC and DC arc furnace on power quality problems.
In conclusion, voltage flicker, harmonics, and imbalance can reduce the power quality of a power system. The effect of AC and DC electric arc furnaces is measured and analyzed in this paper. We hope that the result is helpful to improve the power quality problems in Taiwan.
