In this thesis, we focus on Self Organized Transcoding(SOT) which is a congestion control mechanism. SOT use a transcoder which transcodes high quality video to lower quality video to reduce the usage of network bandwidth. We implemented a simulation environment and explore the performance of transcoder initialization time in chain, star and random tree topology by SOT. Finally, we added a dynamic adaptive timer algorithm to SOT and compare the performance using adaptive timer with manual tuning timer.
