A proper aggregate planning will effectively utilize the organization’s resources to satisfy expected demand. Many methods can solve mathematical optimization models such as aggregate production planning problem. However, these models which assume that all data input deemed necessary can be uniquely determined. A decision maker frequently has insufficient information on how to specify the market demands or relative cost coefficients by crisp real numbers. These data are typically fuzzy in nature. This research presents a novel fuzzy linear programming method for solving the aggregate production planning problem where the environmental coefficients and the operation parameters are fuzzy in nature. Limitations of applying the conventional mathematical programming technique towards medium-term production planning are also discussed. In addition, the specific fuzzy linear programming model is proposed. Moreover, an interactive solution procedure is developed to provide a compromise solution. Finally a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the solution procedure. The proposed procedure allows a decision maker to model a problem according to the current information. The proposed model is more appropriate than the unfuzzy problem formulation in terms of reflecting a realistic situation. Consequently, the information costs are generally decreased. This research also presents a novel fuzzy linear programming method, with fuzzy variables, to solve the aggregate production planning problem in which the environment information is fuzzy. First, a specific fuzzy linear programming model for aggregate production planning is proposed. The model is decomposed into two-level multi-objective linear programming problems. A decision range can be obtained by a general linear programming method. Finally, a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the solution procedure. The fuzzy solutions provide more flexibility to the decision maker under uncertain environmental conditions. A decision maker can modify his or her production plan through the range of the results when the environmental data is vague. Reay-Chen Wang 王瑞琛 2000 學位論文 ; thesis 91 zh-TW
