Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 工程技術研究所設計學程 === 88 === Distant cooperative design is a method of making use of network communication with which people in different places may carry on the same designing project in a cooperative way. It is a trend of business development in the coming era of the net. It may shorten the time of the development of products and reduce the cost and raise the competition advantage. There is a difference between the traditional working method and the communicating method in the network environment, whose working environment includes the surroundings of the physical places where the cooperators work and the virtual space in which the distant cooperators work together and communicate with each other.
This thesis is to investigate the working method and the potential problems of distant cooperation, and to study how to present the message of the main communicating content and the strategies for assisting the needs of the cooperative work. The purpose is to improve the efficiency of communicating coordination, and to provide the cooperators with a more convenient working environment. This thesis consists of two parts: Part one is to study the method of the video presentation, which requires the fewest operations demands the least amount of communication bandwidth, but provides the maximum amount of information. Part two is to determine the favorite arrangement of the multiple windows showing pictures of the participants and main content.
Three experiments are conducted: the experiment on the evaluation standards, and the experiment on the evaluation of the video presentation, and the experiment on the arrangement of multiple windows. First, by simulating the method of distant communication, important factors influencing the usability of the video presentation is analyzed. Second, by using the result of the previous experiment, the evaluation of the video presentation based on the factors is carried out. In addition, the way the message is presented to meet the need of video communication under the limitation of network bandwidth and screen space is investigated. Finally, according to the different numbers of the cooperators, ideal window sizes of the communicating content and the cooperators'' ideal the participants'' pictures, and the users'' favorite arrangements of the windows are separately analyzed. This study, therefore, gathers all the results of the experiments, and provides the references to the distant cooperative group in terms of the software interface design, and the presentation of the video and the arrangements of the windows.
