Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 衛生政策與管理研究所 === 88 === Injuries were one of the most important health problems in Taiwan. The study aims to report the incidence rate of injuries in Taiwan, and to examine the correlates of injuries with the incidence of injuries. Data for the analysis came from the 1994 Taiwan Health Interview Survey. Three types of injuries were identified: self-reported, emergency-treated, and hospitalized injuries. The results of this study showed that:
1. The annual incidence rates of self-reported, emergency-treatment, and hospitalized injuries were 8.0%, 3.1%, and 2.0%, respectively, in Taiwan in 1994.
2. All factors except age were significantly associated with injuries; those being male, 15-29 years and 60 years and older, living in Eastern Taiwan, blue-collar, poor health, and of risk-preference tended to have a higher incidence rate whereas those being married tended to have a lower incidence rate.
Based on the above findings, this study further discussed the implications for public policy and future research.
