In halothsane anesthetic rats, the electrical stimulation (0.4 ms, 40-70 Hz modulated by 2500 Hz, 21.9 V, 30 mA) with continuous mode or intermittent mode was applied on the muscle belly of hind leg. The continuous group was stimulated for 10 minutes. The intermittent group was stimulated with 10 sec on / 50 sec off for 60 minutes. The control animals received the same procedure without the intensity on. Behavior score, edema volume, cutaneous pressure threshold, and FOS number in superficial layer of the dorsal horn were measured before and after the stimulation. The differences were compared by noparametric Kruskal-Wallis statistic for behavior and pressure threshold and by one-way ANOVA for edema and FOS number. In behavior score, the continuous group (n=6) was significantly changed than the control (n=2) (p=0.006). Edema volumes of the continuous group (n=6) increased significantly than the control (n=2) (p=0.007). In cutaneous pressure threshold, the continuous group (n=6) was significantly higher than the intermittent (n=6) (p=0.004). But the FOS number of the continuous group (n=5) in superficial layer increased significantly than the control (n=5) (p=0.003). However, It showed that the continuous mode of NMES had more nociceptive responses in behavior score, edema, and FOS number, but had superimposed effect of strong sensory inhibition in the cutaneous threshod. It may be the treatment effect of electrical stimulation. Shwu-Fen Wang 王淑芬 2000 學位論文 ; thesis 74 zh-TW
