Both of the experimental work and the theoretical derivation are considered. In the experimental work, fatigue tests are carried out for cases of constant-amplitude stresses, multiple-stress levels and random stresses. Recognizing the fact of reliability degradation during the fatigue damage accumulation process, tests are also performed with the view of finding the residual strength and residual stiffness of the studied material. Based on the experimental results, appropriate models for the S-N relation, residual strength degradation, residual stiffness degradation, fatigue damage accumulation, fatigue life prediction of the studied material are established through careful investigation. Probabilistic analyses of the models are emphasized, in particular, in the present study. The analyses can provide us various approaches to evaluate the quantitative reliability or risk of the material. As verified by the experimental data, the proposed models can be used to describe the studied Gr/PEEK composite laminates very well, and the proposed probabilistic analyses can be used to predict the reliability of the material reasonably well.
