Theoretically, we compute the self-admittance of single element and mutual-admittance between any two elements as a prior, and then apply Transmission-Line Theory to find out the input impedance of the patch array antenna. The mutual-admittance is obtained by substituting the input impedance of single element and that of two elements into Transmission-Line Theory. Based on the above theory, we design a three-element patch antenna array. The experiments verify the proposed approach and prove that the input impedance is greatly affected by mutual-admittance.
