But it is still far from being perfect since nowadays building systems are in lack of a uniform specification to establish standards for various appliances and communication protocol, and are also in lack of a robust kernel to integrate all sub-systems in the buildings. We believe that in the long run it will become perfect with the help of advanced techniques. For the former problem, we expect that the major appliance factories will eventually set up the standard of the appliances and communication protocol. For the latter problem, this thesis proposes an integrated control kernel to rapidly and efficiently construct a building automation system. With the advent of the wide-band communication network and intelligent appliances, we can easily monitor and control all of the surrounding appliances through Internet. One can view the status of the appliances and even more turn off the lights or air conditioner through Internet when he left the building without turning them off. We can imagine what a plentiful life we will live in the future with the aid of state-of-the-art techniques. It is important to analyze what appliances a building may deploy. It generally can be classified into the following sub-systems: (1) Power sub-system, (2) Sensor sub-system, (3) Lighting sub-system, (4) HVAC sub-system, (5) Audio/Video sub-system, (6) Elevator sub-system, (7) Security sub-system, (8) Warning sub-system. In the past, since the sub-systems work without integration, they cannot operate efficiently and lack cooperation. For this reason, it is necessary to integrate them into one complete building automation system. Li-Chen Fu 傅立成 2000 學位論文 ; thesis 94 en_US
