The most important one is the application of conference over the Internet. The ISO/IEC MPEG-4 is the newest one of multimedia integration standards and describes how to integrate different type of medias. This specification includes media access framework, video codec, audio codec, and synthetic object presentation. This thesis starts from the introduction of MPEG-4 standard and then describes the implementation of conference management. Based on the DMIF standard in MPEG-4 and the SIP standard, I designed a conference management module for Virtual Meeting system. This module is made up of three parts — conference discovery、conference setup and conference control. In addition to recovering the deficiencies of DMIF, I proposed a concept of “Service Location Server” to enhance the ability of conference management.
