A Study of Visual Preference for Usual Wild Herbaceous Plants

碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 園藝學研究所 === 88 === The purpose of this study is to explore the visual preference of ordinary people for twelve kinds of usual wild herbaceous plants which were planted in the garden. The variables were "observer distance", "seasonal change", and "personal characteristics". We used forty-eight color photos in this computerized simulation experiment and asked ordinary people to anser the questionnaire. Statistical methods such as T-test, One-way ANOVA, and repeated measures ANOVA were used to examine the hypotheses of this study. The results are summarized as followed: 1. "Observer distance" and "seasonal change" have significant influences on the preference of ordinary people for wild herbaceous plants. The top five favorite photoes are: 1.Canna indica-near-blossom 2.Farfugium japonicum-near-blossom 3.Bidens alba-near-blossom 4.Setaria palmifolia-far-not blossom 5.Crotalaria pallida-far-blossom. The top five not preferable photoes are: 1.Bryophyllum pinnatum-far-not blossom 2.Celosia argentea-near-blossom 3.Miscanthus floridulus-near-blossom 4.Miscanthus floridulus-far-blossom 5.Alocasia macrorrhija-near-not blossom. 2. "Seasonal change" whichhas significant influence on the preference of ordinary people for ten kinds of usual wild herbaceous plants include Mirabilis jalapa, Bryophyllum pinnatum, Farfugium japonicum, Crotalaria pallida, Canna indica, Alocasia macrorrhija, Sambucus formosana, Bidens alba, Celosia argentea, and Setaria palmifolia. 3. "Observer distance" has significant influence on the preference of ordinary people for six kinds of usual wild herbaceous plants include Bryophyllum pinnatum, Farfugium japonicum, Canna indica, Bidens alba, Celosia argentea, and Chloris barbata. 4. "Observer distance" and "seasonal change" have interactive influence on the preference of ordinary people for Mirabilis jalapa and Bidens alba. 5. The degree that the personal characteristics such as "sex" and "professional training" influence the preference of ordinary people for usual wild herbaceous plants are slight. 6. People with different age level often has different visual preference for usual wild herbaceous plants. Furthermore, the preference level of people who is under sixteen years old and above forty six years old is proved higher than other groups'' regarding their degree of preference.
