Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 國際企業學研究所 === 88 === This study is to investigate the evolutionary dynamics of the PC scanner industry in Taiwan. For the past fifteen years, the PC scanner industry in Taiwan has successfully developed itself into the worldwide number one position in terms of both production volume (91.4%, as of year 1999) as well as market share (43.1%, as of year 1999). Nevertheless, the Taiwan PC scanner industry, as a whole, does not benefit from this dominant position anyhow in the past 3 years. On the contrary, three quarters of domestic firms have been shaken out of business for the same period of time. This study explores the system dynamics underlying the evolution of Taiwan PC scanner industry by application of various theories in strategy management, such as industry structure analysis, complementary asset, dominant design and industry life cycle, to the scope of this real world PC scanner industry in Taiwan. Through the process of literature research, secondary data analysis, interviews and dialectical examination, this study extracts lessons-learnt that can be applied to other industries in the future.
