First, to understand the viewpoints of physical education (PE) teachers in junior high schools about the needs of in-service training. Second, to discuss the order of in-service curriculum and training models for PE teachers in junior high schools. Third, to compare the differences of in-service curriculum and training models for PE teachers from various background. The results of this investigation will offer reference to PE teachers in junior high schools to engage in in-service training. The investigative implement includes document analysis and investigative tables. The investigative tables written by the investigator are called "Table for assessing the need of in-service training for PE teachers in junior high schools." The content of the tables includes three part-fundamental information, inservice curriculum, and in-service models. The investigative object includes 200 junior high schools labeled by different area and 800 junior high school teachers. The number of effective sample tables is 520. The percentage of retrieve is 65.0%. Through the statistical analysis of SPSS packaged software for Windows. It gives the following results: 1. The order of needs in curriculum content is curriculum designation, instruction and evaluation, sports skill, administrational management, research and creation. 2. Significant differences exist among teachers of different background in the needs of in-service training curriculum. 3. The main purpose of in-service training is self-actualization. The best periods are winter and summer vacation. One-to-three days visitation is the most popular short-term in-service training and the minor course is the most popular long-term training, especially in educational promote center in university. 4. The difference in in-service training models depends on various background.
