Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 華語文教學研究所 === 88 === This thesis deals with the political significante of language-instruction policy in post war Taiwan to the present(1945-2000)Following the Japanese occupation (1895-1945),the mainland KMT government launched a massive campaion to teach and coerce the local popalation to use Mandarin. within a short period, Mandarin overtook Japanese and Taiwanese as the offical language of Taiwan. After a brief introductory First chapter, which maps this thesis'' methedology, chapter2 and 3 focus on experiences and testmonies during the KMT,The rest of chapters4 and 5 looks at the growth of Chinese-language teaching institations and their relationship with political,relgious,and foreign entities.Based on research, this paper concludes that Mandarin teachers share different experiences and outlooks to their colleagues in the traditional education system. The end of this paper will briefly summarize 50 years of Mandar in instructions in Taiwan,with a some short remarks on the future of the field.
