The purposes of this study were (1) to create a Web-based Computer Assisted Instruction concerning biological evolution; (2) to develop this CAI on the basis of Genetic Algorithms; (3) to compare science achievement of elementary students when using this CAI as well as traditional instruction. The sample was 74 5th grade students in total. Among them thirty-seven students accepted this CAI, and the other thirty-seven students accepted traditional instruction treatment. The result was that with the help of this CAI could efficiently improve students'' science achievement, contrasting with traditional classroom-based pedagogy. K. T.
