Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 資訊管理系 === 88 === Business Intelligent Systems (BIS) target on the level of strategic planning of organizational activities that direct organization evolution and guide right operational decisions, and ultimately, on enhancing corporate competitiveness. However, available solutions for BIS are all vendor specific, if not simply different. There thus is a need of mechanisms or facility for metadata management that could help facilitate information circulation and seamless access precisely and effectively, in a way of cross-platform, cross-areas and cross organizations. Such a metadata management facilty should inter-operate and integrate vendor specific system architectures, different BIS solutions and data warehouse systems. In this thesis, we refer to the database schema model of the Metadata Framework in the Open Information Model, developed by the Meta Data Coalition, and adopt it as the Information Model for the development of such a metadata management facility. Sticking with the principle of open and standards compliance, we use CORBA as the middle-ware and interfaces, UML for analysis and design notations, XML for information interchange, DOM as document object API, and finally Java, altogether for the design and implementation of a prototype system of XML-based Metadata Interchange Hub. The system is then applied to and tested upon the metadata and information interchange between different BIS. The system consists of three parts: MD_Hub module, Metadata Schema module and Transformation module. The first module handles management and store of information model, the second module handles store and access of schema data, including both technical metadata and business metadata, in different BIS, and the third module the transformation between schema data format and XML endorsed, semantically rich business document format which admits frictionless interchange, easy manipulation and systematic management. In addition, the system is further packaged as JavaBeans to encapsulate complex internal operations and increase reusability.
