Based on literature survey and “Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire”, the instruments of “The Questionnaire of Implicit Leadership Study─for Elementary School Principals”, “The Questionnaire of Implicit Leadership Study─for Elementary School Teachers”, and “The Questionnaire of Implicit Leadership Study─for Teachers’ College Students” were developed.
46 subjects principals and 773 teachers are randomly sampled from 60 elementary schools in Kaohsiung city, plus 368 students from Pingtung Teachers’ College. Data were analyzed by the method of descriptive and inferential statistics, including T-Test, One-Way ANOVA, andχ2 test.
The major results of the study are as follows:
1. There was no significant difference among the principles with different backgrounds. The only significant difference was the years being a principal.
2.Teachers’ awareness about principals’ leadership behaviors differs significantly due to the age, the years being a teacher, the years served in the same school, and the scale of schools.
3.There was almost no significant difference among teachers’ college students with different backgrounds.
4.There were significant differences of their awareness about principals’ leadership behaviors among principals, teachers and students.
5.Educational staffs’ awareness about principals’ leadership behaviors were high influenced by the implicit leadership theories, which they already kept in their mind.
Based on the conclusions of this study, three suggestions were provided for the principles, educational administration and future study.
