Exploratory factor analysis of teachers'''' ratings revealed the Big-Five factors of personality: agreeableness, conscientiousness, intellect/openness, and extroversion/surgency. The factor-analytic results for students’ self-ratings revealed six factors: agreeableness, neuroticism, extroversion, conscientiousness/intellect-openness, narcissistic tendency, and aggressiveness. The relationships between the major factors of personality (e.g., conscientiousness) and four aspects of adjustment (learning behavior and achievement, prosocial behavior, delinquent behavior, and self-perception of competence) were also explored. The correlational pattern provided support for the argument that the Big-Five factors of personality emerged cross-culturally because they played a key role in affecting an individual adjustment in any society. Keywords: elementary school children, childhood personality, personality trait, big-five model, trait theory, adjustment. 莊耀嘉 2000 學位論文 ; thesis 107 zh-TW
