Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹師範學院 === 臺灣語言與語文教育研究所 === 88 === Abstract Six chapters around Hakka proverbs are composed of the study. The first chapter introduces the motivation of the study. The second chapter is the related literature reviews on the proverbs of Hakka and Min. The third chapter introduces the way of collecting these proverbs and the identification of proverb. Literacy type and thesis are also shown in this chapter. The fourth chapter is the classification of Hakka proverbs. In this chapter, Hakka proverbs are classified into five fields as followed: people, animals, plants, equipment and climate. We try to explore the culture consciousness and characters of Hakka proverbs by classification and comparison. The fifth chapter, following previous classification of rhetoric, takes a further step toward an classification of Hakka proverbs in appreciation of beauty sense. The sixth chapter is the conclusion from the relationship between Hakka proverbs and culture, the culture consciousness in Hakka, and the beauty of Hakka proverbs. Each chapter of the study presents a description of Hakka proverb’s character; from culture to rhetoric. By viewing the character of Hakka proverbs, one can better appreciate the strength and beauty, and , perhaps more importantly, the hopes and future of the language.
