These problems are resulted from the unbalanced supply and demand of transportation service, lack of travel information, and externality cost of transportation usage. In order to overcome these problems, new information systems, telecommunication skills, and remote control devices have been widely adopted to the operations of transportation systems. This new transportation architecture is called -- Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The purpose of this paper is to provide a semi-closed form input-output model that can estimate the industry impacts based on the developments of ITS in Taiwan. These industry impacts include interindustry relationship, income effects, employeement effects. Combined with an expert survey for the final demands of ITS related industry for the short-term (3 years), midterm (5 years), and long-term (10 years) expectations, it is found that in the short-term, ITS development in Taiwan will have a 14.6 billion demand, and could generate 72.1 billion NT dollars output value, 30 thousand job opportunities, and 15 billion income for the household sector; in the midterm, ITS development in Taiwan will have a 72.6 billion demand, and could generate 359 billion NT dollars output value, 130 thousand job opportunities, and 75 billion income for the household sector; in the long-term, ITS development in Taiwan will have a 580 billion demand, and could generate 2800 billion NT dollars output value, 1 million job opportunities, and 75 billion income for the household sector.
