Six students who live in 921desaster area were sampled. The research employed qualitative method, individual interview and group discussion. The findings were as follow: 1. The subjects could achieve involvement, identification, projection and insight stage, but can’t accomplish catharsis and application stage. 2. The subjects could comprehend positive concepts during the process of bibliotherapy. 3. Children’s attitudes toward death was multiple and complicated, and couldn’t be measured with one single scale. 4. The researcher inducted the subjects’ attitudes toward death into six fields: (1) Cognition: 1.1 Subjects’ cognition were affected by media; 1.2 Subjects believe that those who die of sickness were full of pain; 1.3 It is believed that, after death, those who were good will always be rewarded, while those who were evil will be punished. (2) Emotion: 2.1 Curious and yet fearful; 2.2 Fear of the power of the unknown. (3) Behavior:Avoiding contacts or thoughts of an incident could prevent a person from fear and sorrow. 5. Through open and free discussion, children could think about their own attitudes toward death and the reasons that caused fear. 6. The attitudes toward death was flexible, and could be changed through education. Finally, basing on the findings stated above, recommendations for school education and further research were proposed.
