These customers thus frequently transfer the costs of inaccurate sales forecasting to their suppliers, "wafer fabs", by changing the due date of a pre-scheduled order. The wafer fab that wants to get benefits from cooperation will sacrifice the orders of small-scale customers or low down overall production performances. Facing the request of changing the due date of a pre-scheduled order, this paper studies how to reduce the cycle time for a specific order so as to satisfy customer. This paper constructs three mechanisms for providing decision-related information. First, master production planning mechanism is designed to schedule the release time and due-date for each released order so as to be the input of performance evaluation. Second, cycle time reduction mechanism is constructed to reduce cycle time of the specific order by decreasing batch size in releasing and in dispatching lots to batch resources. The new cycle time of this specific order will be calculated. Last, the system performance evaluation mechanism is proposed to measure the impact to the whole system induced by reducing cycle time of the special order. The case study shows that cycle time reduction for the specific order is realized with such a design. Also, new cycle time for the specific order and for each product type with different priority level are estimated accurately and quickly. Additionally, system performance indexes include system slackness, delay numbers of orders and maximum lateness are provided to judge whether the specific request of reducing cycle time can be accepted or not.
