The purpose of the study was to investigate the blood level of luteinzing hormone (LH) , cortisol and testosterone, and the urine level of testosterone and epitestosterone after taking Cordyceps. Six males took Cordyceps three capsule(400mg/cap) twice per day for twenty-eight days. Blood and urine of each subject were collected before and after taking Cordyceps on the 7th, 14th, 21th, 28th day by. Blood samples of luteinzing hormone, cortisol and testosterone concentration were analyzed by immunoassay, Urine samples of testosterone to epitestosterone ratio were analyzed by GC-MS-SIM. The results showed no significant difference of LH and cortisol in blood sample before and after supplementation. After supplementation of Cordyceps for 21 days, the testosterone in blood increased 21.0%, After supplementation of Cordyceps for 21 days, the testosterone to cortisol ratio increased 55.8%, and increased 41.3% after 28 days. This study shown Cordyceps could enhance performance. In urine sample, testosterone to epitestosterone ratio was under 6, and epitestosterone concentration was under 200ng/ml.
