traditional Chinese society,and they had important influence for the daily life of people.They got some changes and special appearence,and developed many kinds of functions based on their abilities under the great change of late Ch’ing society.It increased their social and cultural meanings.
The tea house was a important place of talk and social intercourse in people’s life.Because of its “developed” caused it not only sold tea but provided food eaten with rice or alcoholic drinks,newspapers,opium and so on.Many kinds of professions also used it and every group had its own tea house to stayed at it.Because of the meaning of sell space for the tea house was strong and the guests made the “public force”,the two things helped that developed a sort of function-chiang ch’a（discuss in the tea house）.Following the social and economic changes and the factor of Peking opera,so the tea plantation（origional theater）appeared from the tea house under the circumstances.
Foods and drinks were the essential functions of the tavern.Because of the quality were different,so the price and grade were different,and people had different using for these kinds of places.The activities of these space were simple or complex for their grade.
The privacy of the inn made its special image,but it was still a public place and the privacy was convenient for the crime happen in the inn.Under the change of modern social circumstances,the ability of privacy let the single man and woman to use it,just for sex,and it made the image of inn to became more sexy.The government also made the rules to control the inn and prevented the crime.
Their properties were different,besides the basic functions,they developed the new functions and the phenomenon were happen.All in all the phenomenon of woman,functions of service and information were the very important.Their circumstances made the phenomenon of “entertainment divided” ,cleared the roles of them,and made the functions to played well.
