Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 行為醫學研究所 === 88 === Objectives: The aims of study are to understand the prevalence and risk factors and explore the risk factors of different degrees of school violence in Taiwan, using middle school students in Tainan as an example. Methods: Two kinds of methods were used: one was focus group, and the other was a survey to the middle school students in Tainan. Results: There were 1487 valid questionnaire. Three types of school violence were identified, severe, less severe, and mild violence. It was found that 13.2%, 47.9%, and 61.0% of the middle school students in Tainan reported themselves having at least one kind of severe, less severe, or mild violence behaviors in the past year, respectively. Boys have higher prevalence of all three types of violence behaviors than girls. Significant personal risk factors include smoking, alcohol drinking, gang joining, positive attitude toward violence, and anger traits; family factors include mother’s monitoring and father’s corporal punishment; school factor is the relationship between teachers and students; social environmental factors are violence witness and being victimized in the past. The risk factors in different degrees of violence, there were significant difference of risk factors in different degrees of violence. Conclusions: Significant differences were found between this study and studies in other countries in types of violence and related risk factors. We suggest to develop an appropriate intervention program based on the domestic environment and findings of the study.
