Field survey is conducted in the Yichu area in Chayi County and Nankunshen area in Tainan County. The survey lines spread in an area covers of about 12 kms east-west span and about 14 kms north-south span. The total length of the survey lines is about 7 kms. Two deformation belts with roughly north-south strikes were found, one is located at Nankunshen, the other is located at Yichu. They are about 5 kms apart, resulting from the New Taiwan Orogeny but are independent to each other. The Nankunshen deformation belt might be a northward extension of the previous found Sanliowan fault(Sun et al., 1998). According to carbon 14 dating data, the age of New Taiwan Orogey can be traced to 10ky ago. Sun Robert 孫鎮球 2000 學位論文 ; thesis 72 zh-TW
