They are therefore particularly effective for developing distributed applications. Mobile computing is also gaining more and more popularity in the recent years as professionals discover the benefits of being able to connect to the vast of distributed information resources at all times without any spatial constraints. The main purpose of this thesis is to establish a Mobile Agent Framework for supporting effective on-the-go information access. The whole framework is composed of mobile agents and Information Access Handler. Information Access Handler work on a specific Information Server, while mobile agents roam the network freely. The main function of a Information Access Handler is to access to the database on an Information Server. The retrieved information is handed over to mobile agents. To provide the maximum flexibility, three ways of mobile accessing will be considered. 1.Before leaving for some destination, a user can access directly to the database for desired information and store them on the mobile platform. 2.Before leaving for some destination, a user can send out mobile agents to interact with Information Access Handler on the Service Server for accessing desired information. The user can then disconnect and go to the destination where he may re-collect these mobile agents with retrieved information. 3.While on the move or at a specific docking host, for any unexpected requirement, a user can send out mobile agents to interact with Information Access Handler on a remote Service Server to access desired information. 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 工程科學系 === 88 === Mobile agents are software programs that can move from host to host and interact with other agents and distributed resources in a heterogeneous network.
