The moving high-speed trains induce environmental noises around the sites of the Park. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the wave screening effects of the sites by finite element method with different models of open trenches.
Firstly, a finite element model using plane strain elements is employed to investigate the effectiveness of three different kinds of open trenches with the same trench cross-sectional area, i.e., the single open trench, the double open trenches, and the “inverse-L” type open trench, aims to reduce the ground vibrations with a vertical line load applied harmonically. Based on this research, we find that the double open trenches has better wave screening effects on the average amplitude reduction in time domain displacement responses and frequency domain velocity responses.
Furthermore, the finite element model is simulated by the sites of Tainan Science based Industrial Park and the original excitation is simulated by moving load according to the moving high-speed trains to investigate the wave screening effects of the sites with open trenches. The results indicate that the double passive open trenches gives higher effects on reducing the velocity vibration for the major loading frequencies.
