Description
Summary:碩士 === 高雄醫學大學 === 行為科學研究所 === 88 === The sexual offenses have increased steadily in Taiwan every year. It is necessary to understand more about sex offenders to resolve the more and more seriously social problem. The purpose of this research is to analyze the personalities of these sex offenders. We used the Chinese MMPI as our main inventory to test the sex offenders in Kaohsiung Incarcerated Jail. We totally collected the characteristics of personality from 71 rapists, 45 child molesters, and 25 incest. When age and education were under control, we compared these characteristics of personality with those of violent criminals in Kaohsiung Incarcerated Jail, and found that the mean scores of L, K, Pd, Mf and Ma subscales of MMPI were significantly different among the four groups. The post hoc comparison showed that rapists and child molesters had significantly high scores on L and K subscales than violent criminals. Child molesters also scored near significantly high than violent group on Pd subscale. And incest’s scores on Ma subscale were much lower than violent ones. Using MMPI subscales and age, education level as predictors, the hit rates of properly distinguishing sex offenders from violent criminals were 66.67%~74.15%. But there were no significant differences among sex offender groups. It represented that sex offenders shared some characteristics and the population of sex offenders was heterogeneous and it is necessary to reclassify the same groups of sex offenders to find more homogeneous subgroups. Besides, the sex offenders and violent criminals were both scored significantly high on L and Pd subscales and significantly low on Mf and Si subscales than P.R.C. norm. The sex offenders also had higher Pa scores than P.R.C norm. And the Pt scores of violent criminals were still higher than P.R.C. norm. It proved the hypothesis that sex offenders should had differences between normal. We then used cluster analysis to classify 4 more homogeneous clusters of each sex offender group. The rapists had 12.68% more seriously psychological disturbance, and their pattern was similar to profile 5 of Kalichman’s research (1989). Child molesters had 2 clusters similar to FpathHi and FpathLo found at Ridenour’s research (1997). Incest had 2 clusters of different degrees of psychopathology. The three types of sex offenders all shared normal clusters. The future study should set up sex offender’s norm and Taiwan norm of MMPI and a validity indicator, and the basic data pool of sex offenders in Taiwan.
