Description
Summary:碩士 === 高雄醫學大學 === 行為科學研究所 === 88 === Abstract A stress management training program was developed to help the white collar workers cope with their stress and also to evaluate the immediate efficacy of the program. Using an equivalent control group quasi-experimental design, sixty-six workers with high level of job stress were screened by means of Job Stress Perceived Inventory (JSPI) and voluntarily assigned into intervention group (n=22) and control group (non-intervention) (n=26) after controlling for age, sex, years of employment, and level of job stress. 22 workers in the intervention group received two hours a session, two sessions a week and lasted 7 weeks of stress management training. This intensive program included 4 sessions of lectures on the topics of “job stress and health”,” job stress, cognitive appraisal, coping, and health”, and 9 sessions of skills training on the topics of “progressive muscle relaxation”, “meditation”, and “autogenic training”. Workers in the matched control group didn’t receive stress management training, but information regarding to stress and health were provided. Workers in both groups, their perceived level of job stress, blood pressure, heart rate, and skin conductance activity (SCA) were assessed prior to the stress management training, during and after the training. The findings from the statistical analyses of repeated measures two-way ANOVA showed that the reduction of pre-and-post test of job perceived stress among the intervention group was significantly higher than that of the control. No significant difference was found in the three psychophysiological responses: blood pressure, heart rate, and SCA between intervention group and control group. The results from this study indicated that the immediate effects of the stress management training program for the reduction of workers’ high level of stress have been found. 6 months and more of follow-up of efficacy assessment is necessary in the further studies. The indoor temperatures between these two groups can not be well control during the measurement of SCA, and relaxation skills acquired by the workers can not be assured could make possible non-significant effects of stress management training program on the reduction of workers’ job stress in three psychophysiological responses: blood pressure, heart rate, and SCA.
