The reliability of a product can directly influence the reputation and the market size of a company. However, traditional reliability theory suffers two major problems:(1)the data required for computing the part’s reliability are too huge to obtain form the past repair records. (2) Conventional theory often concerns series and parallel reliability system, but pays little attention on more complicated loop system (e.g. single loop, parallel loop, series loop system). To overcome the above weaknesses, this project attempts to develop a complete fuzzy network reliability evaluation model. The objective of the proposed model is to combine both fuzzy set and reliability to eliminate the problem of data inacquistion. In addition, this model will apply GERT technology to deal with complicated loop problem for obtaining the reliability of the overall system (or a branch). The major steps of this models include:(1)use DSW method in fuzzy set theory to compute the reliability of individual part;(2)derive different loop implication formulas using both direct computation andα-cut interval analysis of triangular fuzzy numbers;(3)apply stepwise computation method and loop simplification formulas to compute the reliability of the overall system(or a branch).
