However, When the retaining walls under active failure states, the failure plane in backfills and the lateral earth pressure can be ascertained only by the deflections of the retaining walls and the surface of the backfills. According to the accompany researches, the lateral earth pressures measured by the deflections of the retaining walls and the surface of the backfills usually have remarkable different with the pressures measured in situ. Thus, the thrust of this research is to perform plane strain model tests for both the lateral earth pressure distributions and the shear band patterns behind a rigid retaining walls under different conditions. It is shown from the results of model tests that the relative density of backfills, the gravel contains of backfills, the earth pressure on the surface of the backfills and the moving types of retaining walls all effect the earth pressure distributions and the shear band patterns obviously. Further more, groups of shear bands in backfills are induced. The shear bands effect each other, it was not considered in single failure plane which in various later earth pressure theory. This research is helpful for improving the lateral earth pressure analysis and the retaining walls design. Tse Shan Hsu 許澤善 2000 學位論文 ; thesis 191 zh-TW |
