Summary: | 碩士 === 朝陽大學 === 工業工程與管理系碩士班 === 88 === Ever since ISO 9000 series were established in 1987, a trend in setting a standard for quality systems has begun. In 1994, a more restrict and motor industry oriented quality system standard also was published and named QS 9000. Every supplier for the motor industry was asked to get QS 9000 certification; otherwise, there will be no orders. In addition, environmental oriented quality system standard, called ISO 14000s, had made known in 1996 as well. To industry, that means a bulk of investment in money and human resources has to be spent to ensure their quality system is up-to-date and follows the requirements listed in these standards. However, for the major part of the companies in Taiwan, medium-small size enterprises, such an investment can only be done once due to the limited resources. In this paper, we tried to construct a quality system for these medium-small size enterprises that will qualify the requirements of these standards.
This research started with an overall review of ISO 9000, QS 9000, and ISO 14000. A field survey regarding the difficulties in pursuing these certifications was conducted thereafter. With the information on hand, IDEF0 was then used to construct the basic model of this quality system and its implementation steps. Finally, another survey on managers and experts was conducted to see whether this model is suitable for medium-small size enterprises.
This research finds that the motivation for companies to pursuing certifications in quality system is to promote the companies imagine, to obtain more orders, to stay competitiveness, and to reduce overall quality cost. In addition, the respondents for the second survey consider the quality system model developed by this study is suitable for medium-small size enterprises and can significantly reduce the overall cost in getting these certifications.
