碩士 === 中原大學 === 室內設計學系 === 88 === 　　As one of the buildings in campus, in the topic of exploring instructional resource center and educational space, it''s a very popular subject among our domestic academical groups, and there are many articles have been published. For the study of dormitory environment, it''s been studied overseas for quite some time, but this kind of study is not so popular domestically until recently. Currently, the educational committee of Ministry of Education has had special personnel to handle with dormitory problem. Among the essays in regards to college dormitory, the investigation and assessment are almost aimed at the integrated space of its utilization of internal facility. And these essays all equally approve the necessity of the existence of lounge areas; some of the essays even appeared to have more entries and discussions about lounge areas in dormitory, it denotes the value of lounge areas in dormitory. Although design of college dormitory has come to several types of dormitories which coordinate with lounge areas, there is no single essay available to further discuss the lounge areas yet, it makes the utilization percentage of lounge areas either low or none and results in wastage of space resource economically.　 　　Therefore, this research is trying to apply questionnaires, by means of interviewing the user, combining the method of post-occupancy evaluation and comparative floor-plan analysis, and hopefully to understand the user''s requirements for lounge areas, practical utilization and interaction status. We''d like to investigate the user''s reaction and satisfaction for social space in different types of dormitories, and compare the differences between different lounge areas and the actual utilization and student interaction in male or female dormitories, and facility requirement in lounge areas. Due to the severe shortage of college dormitory, continuous construction of college dormitory is a necessity in the future; we''d like to provide with some reference and feedback to the designers for designing the future college dormitory. 　　It''s been found in this research that the layout in social space of dormitory is necessary, and it''s able to improve student interaction and develop public relation. But the facility of lounge areas 　is sufficient or not will influence the user''s will for utilizing lounge areas. For those dormitory examples of jointed type, central type and small clusters type within this research, the utilization and student interaction status will be influenced by individual type. Though it''s not very obvious in utilization and student interaction for male and female students, but it still needs to pay more attention on future construction or internal refurbishment of male and female dormitories.
